The APS2 is at it’s core, is a highly accurate race timing system. The system automatically captures every horses’ official fractions while at the same time capturing and displaying other vital performance information including instant speed and positioning at every point of call.

The APS2 system’s accuracy in the overall scheme is greater than the accuracy featured in the common infrared timing systems currently in use at racetracks.

The biggest misconception about infrared timing is that the beam breaks on the “NOSE” of the horse. The fact is that the infrared beam breaks on different parts of the horse’s anatomy depending on how they were installed and the shape of the track. This makes infrared timing accuracy inferior to Autochart’s. Not to mention that infrared technology is over sixty years old! and hasn’t changed or developed much since.

In contrast, the APS2 times every horse equally, only when the sensor crosses the point of call the fraction time is recorded, this takes the anatomy and track height differential out of the equation. The photo will continue to play it’s role in officiating the race by calling the winner when it is too close.

For the first time ever, we can have 100% accurate (1/1000 second) time fractions for every starter, and all APS2 timing is point to point, which can be set up every 1/16 mile!
