Equibase Company and The Jockey Club Technology Services complete in-depth evaluation of Autochart’s APS2 technology.
 
Autochart LLC from New Hyde Park, New York, has been operating its APS technology since its introduction in 2003 at Freehold Raceway in Freehold, New Jersey, and most recently introduced the latest version of their technology, the APS2 at Harrington Raceway in Harrington, Delaware.
During the last week of the Harrington Raceway meet, Equibase and The Jockey Club Technology Services, carried out an onsite evaluation of the APS2 system and operations at Harrington, followed by a rigorous evaluation of the systems’ data output for accuracy and consistency.

February 26, 2006 -- New Yorkers laid down about a $1 billion at their local off-track betting office last year.
While many, no doubt, picked a horse based on a catchy name, a favorite jockey or a friend's advice, most serious bets were made after carefully perusing horses' previous performances times broken down in the Daily Racing Form in exact quarter-mile increments.
Those times have been recorded the same way for more than 100 years -- with binoculars and a stopwatch. That time-tested way is mostly accurate, but not always.
Chuck Scaravilli, a chart-caller for 30 years, used to dread severe fog or rain, which could render his trusty binocs useless. "If I can't distinguish between two different silks, that's a problem," he told The Post.
